Track Shadow IT via Google Workspace Integration
Updated this week

Swif now integrates directly with Google Workspace to provide real-time visibility into third-party apps accessing your critical data through OAuth grants. This integration eliminates the need for a browser extension, making it easier for IT admins to detect and manage Shadow IT within their organization.

What Does This Integration Do?

  • Tracks third-party apps that access your organization’s data through Google OAuth grants.

  • Provides real-time visibility into apps users log in to using Google SSO.

  • Detects and identifies Shadow IT risks without requiring the Swif Browser Extension.

How to Set Up Google Workspace Integration in Swif

Follow these simple steps to enable the Google Workspace integration:

1. Navigate to Google Workspace Integration

  1. Log in to your Swif Admin account.

  2. Go to Settings > Integrations.

  3. Search for Google Workspace or click this direct link: Google Workspace Integration.

2. Connect Google Workspace

  1. Click Connect on the Google Workspace integration card.

  2. Follow the prompts to grant Swif the required permissions to access OAuth grants and user sign-in data.

⚠️ Note: You will need Google Admin access to enable this integration.

3. Monitor Shadow IT

Once the integration is live:

  • Swif will begin reading third-party apps connected via Google OAuth.

  • View the list of apps accessing user data within the Swif Admin portal.

  • Identify unauthorized or risky apps that users log in to using Google SSO.

Benefits of Google Workspace Integration

  • No Browser Extension Required: Gain insights without relying on device browser extensions.

  • Comprehensive Visibility: Detect Shadow IT through OAuth grants in real-time.

  • Proactive Risk Management: Identify unauthorized apps accessing critical company data.

  • Simplified Setup: Integration only requires Google Admin access—no additional tools needed.

Next Steps

  1. Set up the integration using the steps above.

  2. Review the Shadow IT report under Swif Admin > Shadow IT Dashboard.
