Windows Login Message Policy

Updated over 3 months ago

The Windows Login Message Policy allows administrators to configure a custom title and message that appear on the Windows login screen. This is often used for compliance, legal, or security reminders that must be displayed before users access their devices.

Purpose of the Policy

Many organizations require users to acknowledge a security notice or terms of use before signing in. This policy helps IT teams enforce those requirements by ensuring that a predefined title and message are displayed every time a user reaches the Windows login screen.

Common use cases include:

  • Displaying a legal disclaimer for system use.

  • Reminding employees of security best practices (e.g., no external media, password protection).

  • Showing compliance notices for HIPAA, GDPR, or corporate policies.

Policy Requirements

  • Supported OS: Windows 10+
