Swif automatically collects and refreshes important information from your managed devices to ensure you always have accurate and current data available. This article explains how data refresh works, how you can manually trigger data refreshes, and troubleshooting steps for common scenarios.
Automatic Data Refresh
Swif automatically collects data from devices three times daily. Regular updates occur approximately every 8 hours (3 times per day), ensuring information accuracy while minimizing disruptions.
On-Demand Security Data Refresh
Certain compliance or security information may require immediate refresh. Swif allows you to manually update security data on demand:
Navigate to Device Details > Security.
Click Refresh to manually update security information immediately.
Automatic Profile Verification and Re-installation
Swif agents automatically verify every 10 minutes that the Swif MDM profile exists on the device. If the profile is found missing, Swif automatically reinstalls it until the device is explicitly unenrolled.
Command Execution and Response
Commands sent to devices are typically processed within 2 minutes.
Responses from the device update in the Swif Console immediately upon receipt.
Troubleshooting via Device Logs
If you encounter issues with software installations or data synchronization, review the device logs directly on the affected device:
Windows Log Location:
C:\ProgramData\gorilla\gorilla.log
(Package manager logs)
C:\Program Files\Swifteam\log.txt
(Agent logs)macOS Log Location:
/Library/Managed Installs/Logs/ManagedSoftwareUpdate.log
(Package manager logs)
/tmp/com.swifteam.swifteam.err.log
(Agent logs)
/tmp/com.swifteam.swifteam.out.log
(Agent logs)Note: The err.log is not an error log, it is the log output. The out.log is the Standard Output.
Linux:
/var/log/swif-agent.log
Automatic Software Updates
Swif regularly updates software inventory and compliance status automatically to ensure your reports reflect the most current data. This automated process eliminates manual refreshes, saving administrative time and effort.
