Apple Intelligence Policy

Updated yesterday

The Apple Intelligence Policy allows administrators to control Apple’s new on-device and cloud-based AI (“Apple Intelligence”) features introduced in iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15.
This policy helps organizations govern access to AI tools such as Image Playground, Writing Tools, Generative Features, and external intelligence integrations—ensuring that sensitive data remains protected and that devices adhere to company policies.

Note:
Some settings require supervised devices, and many changes require a device restart for the policy to take effect.

Overview

Apple Intelligence is a system-wide suite of AI-powered capabilities embedded into Apple platforms.
While powerful, these features may raise privacy and compliance requirements for enterprise or regulated environments.

The Apple Intelligence Policy enables IT administrators to selectively allow or block:

  • Generative image tools

  • Writing assistance features

  • Personalized handwriting models

  • External AI integrations (e.g., ChatGPT)

  • Cloud-based processing for intelligence features

This policy provides centralized control over these advanced capabilities while preserving organizational security standards.

Requirements

  • macOS 15+

  • iOS 18+

  • iPadOS 18+

  • Device enrolled in Swif.ai MDM

  • Some features require device supervision

Best Practices

  • Disable external intelligence integrations in sensitive or regulated industries (healthcare, finance, legal, R&D).

  • Use supervised mode on iOS/iPadOS for full control of AI settings.

  • Pair this policy with the Apple Security Policy and Apple Privacy Policy to maintain a compliant AI posture.

  • Restart devices after applying this policy for immediate effect.

How to Configure

  1. Go to Swif Admin Console → Policies → Create New Policy

  2. Select Apple Intelligence Policy

  3. Configure generative, handwriting, writing tools, and external AI options

  4. Click Continue, then assign the policy to the appropriate devices or groups

  5. Confirm the configuration

  6. Restart iOS/iPadOS/macOS devices to apply intelligence settings
