Getting Started with Swif Sidekick for the Swif Web App

Overview

Swif Sidekick is the unified AI co-pilot built directly into the Swif.ai web app. Designed specifically for team admins, Swif Sidekick combines intelligent workspace navigation, user and device lookups, and AI-powered policy creation into a single, seamless assistant—all while upholding strict administrative safety and granular permission controls.

Note: The former Policy Bot has been fully merged into Swif Sidekick, giving you one centralized assistant for both day-to-day admin navigation and automated policy generation.

What Swif Sidekick Can Do

Swif Sidekick acts as your interactive administrative partner across the Swif platform:

  • Smart Search Across Your Workspace: Search for team members, enrolled devices, policies, and system settings in seconds.

  • AI Policy Creation & Guidance: Draft and configure custom security, compliance, and device policies directly through natural language prompts.

  • Grounded Page Navigation: Deep-links and opens target resources (e.g., device details, account settings, policy configuration forms) tailored to your organization’s active environment.

  • Smart Disambiguation: Intelligently resolves names and devices, prompting you to choose the correct entity if multiple matches exist.

  • Environment & Permission Awareness: Operates strictly within your role and subscription tier—never routing you to dead ends or disabled features.

  • Zero-Touch Safety Model: Swif Sidekick never alters passwords, wipes devices, mutates policies, or changes team data autonomously. It brings you to the exact location and lets you review and execute the final action.

Where to Find Swif Sidekick

Swif Sidekick is available across every page within the Swif web app:

  • Floating Launcher: Located at the bottom-right corner of your screen.

  • Always Accessible: Open or minimize the assistant drawer anytime without interrupting your current work.

  • Responsive Drawer: Automatically adapts to your workspace layout without blocking key dashboard controls.

How to Open and Use Swif Sidekick

  1. Sign in to the Swif.ai Web App.

  2. Click the Swif Sidekick icon in the bottom-right corner.

  3. Type your request or question in natural language.

  4. Review Sidekick’s responses, grant search or navigation approvals, or refine policy suggestions directly in the chat drawer.

Administrative Safety & Explicit Approvals

Swif Sidekick adheres to a strict permission-first design:

  • Search Approvals: Sidekick requests explicit approval before querying workspace directories, user groups, or enrolled device inventories.

  • Navigation Approvals: Before redirecting your current view, Sidekick prompts for confirmation so you do not lose unsaved work.

  • Admin-Driven Execution: When performing sensitive tasks (e.g., password resets, device locks, or policy enforcement), Sidekick navigates you to the exact tab and highlights the action area—the final decision and execution remain entirely in your hands.

Key Workflows & Step-by-Step Examples

1. Finding a Device & Resetting an Account

"Help me change Jenny's device password."
  1. Search Approval: Sidekick asks for permission to search your organization's user and device directory. Click Approve.

  2. Entity Disambiguation: If multiple team members match (e.g., Jenny Miller and Jenny Zhao), Sidekick asks which user you wish to view.

  3. Device Matching & Navigation: Sidekick matches the selected user to their assigned device and asks:

"Jenny is assigned to MacBook Pro (Device ID: 636e92d5...). Would you like me to navigate to the Accounts tab?"

  4. Manual Completion: Click Approve & Navigate. Sidekick opens the device's Accounts tab and directs you to the password reset field to complete the change.

2. Creating and Configuring Policies (Formerly Policy Bot)

Because Policy Bot is now integrated into Sidekick, you can draft and configure policies directly from the same launcher on any page.

"Help me create a FileVault disk encryption policy for all macOS laptops."
  1. Requirements Gathering: Sidekick identifies the relevant policy type, target operating system, and recommended security controls.

  2. Configuration Draft: Sidekick prepares the policy parameters (e.g., escrow keys, grace periods, enforcement level) and displays a summary.

  3. Guided Form Fill: Sidekick navigates you to the Policies > New Policy form with your configurations pre-filled for final review and activation.

Example Prompts to Try

Policy & Compliance Generation

  • "Create a password complexity policy requiring 14 characters and MFA."

  • "Draft a removable storage restriction policy for Windows devices."

  • "Help me set up automated OS update rules for our fleet."

User & Device Lookup

  • "Where can I see all devices assigned to Shunsuke?"

  • "Find device details for asset SN-99482."

  • "Show all Windows laptops with pending disk encryption."

Workspace Navigation & Settings

  • "Where do I configure our Google Workspace directory sync?"

  • "Open the SAML SSO integration page."

  • "Take me to the compliance dashboard."

Tips & Best Practices

  • Use Specific Identifiers: Include user emails, full names, or serial numbers to get direct results and reduce disambiguation steps.

  • Natural Phrasing Works Best: Whether you say "Where is...", "Take me to...", or "Create a policy for...", Sidekick understands context across both navigation and policy creation.

  • Review Before Committing: Sidekick drafts policies and navigates to target tabs, but saving, updating, and applying actions always require your final confirmation.
