When the Swif installer fails on the SSL certificate (Error: Unable to get local issuer certificate), one approach is to install the Amazon root certificate on the machine and try the installer again. This often happens on a VM machine.

Here are the steps.

  1. Download the certificate and click to open it
    ​https://www.amazontrust.com/repository/AmazonRootCA2.cer

  2. Choose Local machine

3. Automatically select the certificate store

4. Completing the import
