Understanding the Google Compliance Report for Android

Overview

Swif provides visibility into Google-specific compliance data for Android devices. This report surfaces detailed information regarding device settings and application installation statuses as reported by Google's management APIs, assisting administrators in diagnosing device-level issues.

Accessing the Report

To view the Google compliance report for a specific Android device:

  1. Navigate to the Devices inventory.

  2. Select the target Android device.

  3. Click on the Compliance tab.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page to locate the Google compliance report section.

Report Details

The report includes the following fields to help identify and resolve configuration gaps:

  • Setting Name: The specific Google management setting or policy being evaluated.

  • Non-Compliance Reason: The technical reason why a setting is flagged as non-compliant (e.g., policy conflict or user intervention).

  • Package Name: The unique identifier (e.g., com.android.chrome) for the application associated with the compliance check.

  • Installation Failure Reason: Specific error descriptions provided by the OS if an application failed to install correctly.

Compliance Status Impact

It is important to distinguish between Swif's internal compliance engine and Google's reporting.

Note: The findings in this section are specific to Google's reporting requirements and do not impact the overall Compliance Status of the device within the Swif dashboard.

Understanding Empty States

If a device is fully compliant with all Google-managed settings and applications, the section will display the following message:
No non-compliance details

This indicates that no issues have been reported by the Google management API for the current device configuration.
