Overview
Swif has introduced a centralized Browser Extensions dashboard within the Shadow IT section. This feature provides administrators with comprehensive visibility into browser extensions installed across the organization's fleet, enabling better security oversight and compliance management.
Key Features
Centralized Inventory: A unified view of all user-installed browser extensions discovered on enrolled devices.
Multi-Browser Support: The dashboard tracks extensions across major browsers, including Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. For extensions installed on multiple browsers, stacked icons with descriptive tooltips are provided.
Version Traceability:
Displays specific version numbers when all installations match.
Automatically flags "Multiple versions" when discrepancies are detected across the fleet.
Granular Device Insights: A dedicated details panel for each extension surfaces device-specific metadata, including:
Device Name and Serial Number
Assigned User
Browser Type and Version
Last Seen timestamp (when the extension was last detected)
Navigation and UI Updates
To improve clarity, the following navigation changes have been implemented:
Shadow IT > Browser Extensions: The new centralized dashboard.
Download Swif Extension: The previous "Browser Extension" page has been renamed to focus specifically on the deployment of the Swif agent extension.
Technical Capabilities
Filtering and Sorting
Administrators can refine the inventory using the following criteria:
Filter by Browser: Isolate extensions based on the browser they are installed on.
Sort Options: Organize the main table by Extension Name (A-Z/Z-A), Installed Device Count, or Discovery Date.
Search Functionality
The details panel supports real-time searching by Device Name or Serial Number, allowing for rapid identification of specific installations during security audits or troubleshooting.
Empty State Handling
For organizations with no detected extensions, a designated empty state is displayed to confirm that the monitoring system is active but has not yet identified any third-party browser add-ons.
