New Organization Setup Guide

Overview

When you sign up your organization for Swif, the Setup Guide walks you through getting started. In a few steps, you tell Swif about your company, your devices, and your compliance goals. Swif then configures your workspace automatically, and helps you enroll your first device.

The Setup Guide has three parts:

  1. Tell Swif about your organization: company details, operating systems, compliance frameworks, GRC tool, and identity provider

  2. Workspace auto-configuration: Swif sets up policies and settings based on your answers

  3. Enroll devices: test Swif on a few devices, or enroll your whole team

The sidebar stays locked until you finish the Setup Guide. Hover over a locked item to see why. When you select Finish Onboarding & Hide Setup Guide at the end, the sidebar unlocks and the Setup Guide is hidden.

If you get stuck, select Need help with setup? at the top of any step.

Part 1: Tell Swif about your organization

The progress bar at the top shows each step: Company Details > OS > Compliance Frameworks > GRC > Identity Provider.

Step 1: Company Details

Enter your company's details, and tell us how you heard about Swif. Next becomes available once every required field is filled in.

Step 2: Operating systems

Select every operating system your organization uses. You can choose more than one:

  • macOS

  • Windows

  • Linux

  • iOS/iPadOS

  • Android

Each card shows the supported OS versions. Choose at least one to continue.

Your choices decide which installers and test devices the Setup Guide offers later.

Step 3: Compliance frameworks

Select the compliance frameworks your organization follows. You can choose more than one:

Framework

What it covers

SOC 2

Service Organization Control 2

ISO 27001

Information Security Management

HIPAA

Healthcare Data Protection

CIS Level 1

Critical Security Controls

CIS Level 2

Advanced Security Controls

NIS 2

EU Cybersecurity Directive

NIST 800-53

Security & Privacy Controls

Swif configures recommendations, policies, and reporting to match the frameworks you choose.

To preview a framework, select the down arrow on its card. The preview opens below the cards. If you choose several frameworks, each one has its own preview.

Don't need a compliance framework? Select We Don't Need a Compliance Baseline. This skips both the framework and GRC steps, and takes you straight to Identity Provider. If you select Back from there, you return to the framework step.

Step 4: GRC tool

If you use a governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platform, such as Vanta or Drata, select it. Choose one:

  • Select a GRC platform to open its integration window. Connect it to move to the next step. If you close the window without connecting, you stay on this step.

  • No, but I would be interested in a referral for preferred pricing opens a page where you can ask for referrals to one or more GRC partners.

This step is skipped if you selected We Don't Need a Compliance Baseline.

Step 5: Identity provider

Select the primary identity provider your organization uses to manage users, such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Azure, Okta, or Deel.

Next, the IdP Connection Walkthrough explains how to connect it. Select Continue to open the identity provider's connection page and finish connecting.

Part 2: Workspace auto-configuration

Swif now configures your workspace based on your answers. Each item shows its progress as Swif prepares it.

If you skipped compliance frameworks, you'll see No framework policies created and No compliance baseline created. That's expected.

When everything is ready, the page shows a completed message. Select Continue to Device Enrollment.

Part 3: Enroll devices

Choose how to start:

Option A: Start Testing

Swif detects your computer's operating system from your browser, and suggests it as your first test device. To use a different one, select Choose a different OS. Swif also shows cards for the other operating systems you picked in Step 2.

On each device card, choose how to enroll it:

Watch your policies apply

Once the device enrolls, the page updates on its own and shows:

  • Policies being applied. Each policy turns green when it's enforced.

  • Compliance on this device, for each framework you chose, if any

  • When evidence goes to your GRC tool, if you connected one. For example, "Evidence for this device will be sent to Vanta tonight."

Full enforcement usually takes up to 30 minutes. Keep the device on and connected. You can leave the page, and Swif emails you when it's done. Every device you enroll after this one works the same way.

Add a second test device

When the first device is ready, select Add Your Second Test Device. Swif suggests another device based on the operating systems you picked. If you picked only one, it suggests a desktop OS.

From there, you can:

  • Email Enrollment Guide to Employees to invite your team

  • Finish Onboarding & Hide Setup Guide to finish

  • Back to return to the previous page
