Set up Swif Connect for Slack

Overview

Swif has 2 kinds of integrations for Slack:

  1. Swif Access for Slack, please visit here for more details.

  2. Swif Connect for Slack:

The purpose of this integration for Slack is to Receive notifications in the app channel to notify you about employee activities when an employee requests device purchase or cloud app access.

To connect, you can follow these steps to set up the Swif's integration with Slack:

  1. Click the Swif Connect for Slack to view the detailed integration.

  2. Click 'Connect' to start the integration

  3. Enter Slack account with account permission on the Slack auth page

  4. After the authentication, you will be redirected back to Swifteam to finish the connection.

  5. Once the integration is connected, we will be able to post messages or manage access for you.

Note: Private channel support

After you connect, you can pick a private Slack channel as the default place for Swif notifications. You set this under Integrations → Slack.

  • Private channels appear in the channel list only after you've invited the Swif Slack app to them. Slack doesn't let Swif add itself to a private channel, so a member of the channel has to invite it.

  • To invite the app, open the private channel in Slack and type /invite @Swif.

  • If both Swif Connect for Slack and Swif Access for Slack are connected, Swif uses Swif Connect first to list channels, save your default channel and send messages. It falls back to Swif Access if needed.

  • If saving fails, check that the Swif app is a member of the private channel.

  • Note, if the private channel is created after the Slack connection is created, Slack connection must disconnect and re-connect again to fetch the channels list.

To disconnect, you can follow these steps to disconnect the App for Slack:

  1. Find the Swif Connect integration for Slack

  2. Click 'Disconnect' to disable the integration.
