Data synced to Vanta
Here is the list of data Swif sends to Vanta:
Employees
Employee personnel email (used by Vanta to auto-link devices and evidence to the correct employee)
Devices
Device name, unique ID, hardware UUID, serial number
OS name and version
Managed status (
isManaged)Device owner email
External URL (link back to device details in Swif)
User accounts
System user accounts on the device (e.g.,
root, named users)Last login timestamp for each account
Compliance evidence (6 types)
Evidence type | What it covers |
Device Info | Device metadata, OS, owner, hardware identifiers |
Lock Screen Evidence | Screenlock policies and settings per user, system-level screenlock policies |
Password Manager Evidence | Installed password managers (detected via applications and browser extensions) |
Antivirus Evidence | Antivirus/EDR installation status |
Hard Drive Encryption Evidence | Disk encryption status |
Auto Updates Evidence | Whether OS auto-updates are enabled |
Additional data
Screensaver / screenlock policy: Whether screen saver requires a password, and idle timeout duration
Password policy: Minimum password length requirement
Installed applications: Used to detect antivirus and password manager installation
Installed browser extensions: Chrome and Firefox extensions are synced (used by Vanta to detect password manager extensions)
Note on password manager alerts: If you receive password manager alerts on Vanta, the detection is based on installed applications and browser extension data. Vanta checks against its own list of recognized password manager apps and extensions.
Media disposal evidence
When utilizing Swif for computer wiping, you can download Media Disposal evidence. This evidence can then be uploaded to Vanta for record-keeping and auditing purposes, providing a clear and auditable trail of device disposal.
Supported platforms
Platform | Sync support |
macOS | ✅ Native sync |
Windows | ✅ Native sync |
Linux | ✅ Supported (synced via Mac endpoint) |
Linux device sync (New)
Swif now supports syncing Linux devices to Vanta. Since Vanta does not natively support a Linux device type, Linux machines are synced through the Mac endpoint. Vanta accepts the data without rejection, and the payload internally preserves osName: "Linux" for traceability.
What's synced for Linux devices:
Device identity (displayName, hardwareUuid, serialNumber, OS version)
System user accounts with login timestamps and screenlock policies
Browser extensions (Chrome and Firefox)
All 6 compliance evidence types (Device Info, Lock Screen, Password Manager, Antivirus, Hard Drive Encryption, Auto Updates)
Device owner email — ensures Vanta auto-links device and evidence to the correct employee
How it works:
Linux devices are synced hourly alongside macOS and Windows devices
The sync preserves the true OS name (
"Linux") in the payload for internal trackingVanta differentiates processing by evidence type, not by the endpoint used
No additional configuration is needed — Linux devices that meet the sync criteria are automatically included
Which devices are synced?
Swif syncs devices to Vanta that meet all of the following criteria:
Device type is Laptop or Desktop
OS is macOS, Windows, or Linux
Has a current owner (assigned devices only)
Status is Active
Device is Enrolled
