You can import employees into Swif from Google Workspace by selecting Organizational Units (OUs), User Groups, or both. Each imported OU automatically creates a corresponding user group in Swif.
Getting Started
Click Add Employees > Sync HRIS.
If you don't have a Google Workspace connection yet, click Connect new HRIS and follow the prompts to connect. If you're already connected, click Sync to continue.
Note: The OU import feature requires an additional permission scope. If you connected Google Workspace before this feature was available, you'll need to Reconnect your Google Workspace connection to grant the new permission.
Choose your import type:
Limited Import — Manually select specific OUs, User Groups, or individual employees to import.
Full Import — Import all employees from your Google Workspace directory at once. A confirmation modal will appear before the import begins.
Limited Import
After selecting Limited Import, you'll see three tabs:
Employees Tab
Browse and select individual employees to import. Use the Filter to narrow results, or click Refresh to reload the employee list.
Organizational Unit (OU) Tab
Navigate to the Organizational Unit tab to see your Google Workspace OUs listed in a collapsed view.
Click on an OU to expand it and view child OUs and the users within it.
Select the OUs you want to import. An alert notice will confirm the scope of the OU-based import.
Each imported OU will automatically create a corresponding User Group in Swif.
User Group Tab
Navigate to the User Group tab to see your Google Workspace user groups listed in a collapsed view.
Click on a group to expand it and view the users within it.
Select the user groups you want to import.
You can select from any combination of the three tabs — OUs, User Groups, and individual employees — in a single import.
Review Import
Before the import is finalized, you'll see a Review Import modal with two tabs:
Will be imported — Lists the employees that will be created or updated in Swif.
Will be skipped — Lists employees that will be skipped, along with the reasons (e.g., already exists, missing required fields).
Confirm the import to proceed.
After Importing
Once the import completes, a success notification will confirm the import.
Navigate to the Google Workspace Details Panel to view your synced data across three tabs:
Employees — View all synced employees. Shows an empty state if no employees are synced yet.
OU — View all imported Organizational Units. Shows an empty state if no OUs are synced.
User Group — View all imported user groups (including those auto-created from OUs). Shows an empty state if no groups are synced.
You can also hover over the auto-sync indicator to see details about automatic syncing.
Managing the Connection
Click the Action menu (⋯) on the Details Panel to access options including Disconnect. If your connection requires re-authentication (e.g., after a scope change), the main button will change to Reconnect.
