The Android Personification Policy allows organizations to enforce enterprise branding, support messaging, and critical device settings on company-owned Android devices managed via Swifteam. This policy enhances device security, ensures compliance, and provides clear communication to end users.
What is the Android Personification Policy?
The Android Personification Policy is a set of controls that enable IT administrators to:
Enforce automatic date, time, and time zone settings.
Display or hide the organization’s name on the device home screen.
Show custom support messages when users encounter policy restrictions.
Specify admin emails for Factory Reset Protection (FRP) unlock.
This policy is available for fully managed (Android Enterprise) devices.
Key Features & Fields
1. Auto Date And Time Zone
AUTO DATE AND TIME ZONE ENFORCED: Forces the device to use automatic date, time, and time zone. These settings are locked (greyed out) and cannot be changed by the user. When set to true, the device must automatically enable Automatic date & time and Automatic time zone, and both settings should appear greyed out in the UI, indicating that the user cannot change them, as in the screenshot below:
AUTO DATE AND TIME ZONE USER CHOICE or AUTO DATE AND TIME ZONE UNSPECIFIED: Allows users to modify date, time, and time zone settings.
Example Behavior:
If “Auto Date And Time Zone” is enforced, users see the toggles for automatic date & time and time zone enabled and greyed out.
2. Auto Time Required
When set to True (and “Auto Date And Time Zone” is unset), the device enforces automatic date & time only, locking the toggle for users.
When set to False, users can freely change date and time settings.
Note: If both “Auto Date And Time Zone” and “Auto Time Required” are set, “Auto Date And Time Zone” takes precedence.
3. Enterprise Display Name Visibility
Enterprise Display Name Visible: Displays the organization’s name on the home screen of fully managed devices.
Enterprise Display Name Hidden: Hides the organization’s name from the home screen.
4. Short Support Message
Displays a brief message (e.g., “Managed by Swif”) when a user attempts a restricted action. This helps users understand that certain actions are blocked by company policy.
5. FRP Admin Emails
Specifies a list of Google account emails authorized to unlock the device after a factory reset (FRP lock). Only these emails can be used to regain access if the device is reset.
How It Works: User Experience
Date & Time Settings: If “Auto Date And Time Zone” is enforced, users cannot change date, time, or time zone. The toggles are greyed out.
Home Screen Branding: The organization’s name appears (or is hidden) on the home screen based on “Enterprise Display Name Visibility.”
Support Messages: Attempting a restricted action (like changing date/time) triggers a visible “Short Support Message.”
FRP Unlock: After a factory reset, only specified “FRP Admin Emails” can unlock the device.
Removing the Policy
When the Android Personification Policy is removed from a device:
All enforced restrictions and branding are lifted.
The device returns to default Android behavior.
Users regain control over date/time settings, and enterprise branding/support messages are removed.
